On the boulder in the corner of the front yard, just behind the fence, Ran sat and watched the main road. No one passes by much anymore. And anyone who did, hurried by. They knew of this place. Where people entered and never came back out.
However, Ran would never be able to see them. The Trauma would never allow him to. Humans...other people did not exist anymore. Not in his world. His lonesome world. Vaguely, Ran wondered if humankind has forgotten and abandoned this place. Vaguely, he wondered if anyone could look in and see him, forever unable to step out of the house, for a fear he cannot fathom why.
And there he sat, dazed.

"Zarame!"
That grim reaper. Why did he hop off her shoulder and out the front door? Even if he was small, he could get around the place like anyone else, even if his powers were gone, he could still hurt someone with his scythe. Yomi's best friend was going some where, and her eyes were set on the trail he had gone. Eye contact with any others was avoided, she didn't like looking at people, last time she looked at someone she saw the ring, and the next day they were nothing but dust drifting away from the gate. Even in a place you couldn't leave, people still died.
And she never wanted her eyes to see it anymore. Not after she saw it on her parents, after that she knew what her eyes could do, and even if she hated them for it, she lived with it. Lived with having the fear of looking at someone, hoping she wouldn't see the black ring, the mark of a grim reaper. Not her's of course, his powers were stolen, and he couldn't do much anymore. He helped her though, that was why she ran out of the house, having the fear maybe he tried to get through the gate. But he didn't have a black ring when she looked at him.
Yomi had been running around the yard, she kept seeing a glimpse of red, purple, black, every color that he wore. His hair was the main thing and she kept running around, possibly looking like a full yelling someones name that no one in the house had heard. Her short blue hair no longer touched her shoulders, it was to busy flying in the wind to even hit her back, then her green eyes spotted red; she raced to the corner only to see him run in a bush. Another yell of his name and a squeak of a reply, and she tried to jump in the bush to get him, only to miss.

For a moment at the first call that nearly spooked him out of his seat, Ran's eyes were wide, his irises constricted to a point, filled with the paralyzing fear he felt for the briefest of miliseconds before he slowly relaxed, the tensed muscles in his back loosening up as he remained in that position as his mind began to cloud over that event.
It was a self defense mechanism, enabling him to remain 'sane'. The fear, horror and anguish he felt a second ago, thrust up from his memories like some assaulting obscenity had faded into something that belonged to eons in the past. This time, even when the bushes rustled and there was a thud next to him, he remained perched on his boulder, looking back at the bush and around as if looking for something, but his eyes ever so selectively missed the girl before him.

She may have been on the ground, but her reflexes were faster than normal. Almost everything about her was abnormal, that was just that. Yomi would never be normal, her eye sight wouldn't her hearing would. The sound of the reaper moving caught her, and she tried to track them down, even if she was near someone she paid no mind to them. Her mind was set on catching the grim reaper that was trapped within the house. Like her he was trapped. And that was only because his powers were gone.
As she made an attempt to grab him he seemed to jump even father away, and she almost tripped. She wasn't graceful, and was far from it, no matter how you looked at the girl. She wasn't social, she wasn't good on her feet, and she hated being able to see. Traits that people shouldn't have, but yet she did. Zarame knew someone was there, that was his reason for going into the corner. He wasn't happy with the girl, how she stayed away form everyone, he'd told her that before. And this was his revenge for something she did the other day!
With that he jumped on the mans shoulder. And Yomi gave him a horrified look as he started to speak, well to her he was speaking. To any one else, he was making a squeaking noise, his purple eye glared at her and his scythe pointed at her as he started his little lecture. But she seemed to let the noise pass by her ears and was determined to get him off the mans shoulder, some didn't take kindly to others doing that, she inched her way before grabbing the glaring reaper in her hand, and the squeaking became even louder. "Sorry" that one word was repeated over and over not just at the reaper, but the person whom sat on the rock.
She couldn't help it. She was sorry he'd ran away and jumped on the persons shoulder. Yomi was sorry to Zarame for grabbing him like such; she knew he didn't like it, that was the reason her hand seemed to be bleeding at the moment, people didn't think it, but his scythe was still a scythe and it still cut people. He wanted her to listen, there for he kept cutting the part of her hand that his scythe would reach, only to have that part heal the next second before he cut it again. That red headed could be so mean to her at times, yet she still claimed him as her best friend...

Ran's shielded mind carefully kept the presence of the girl out of awareness, slowly turning his head to see that which was on his shoulder. His mind wasn't prepared for that, the small little almost gnome like being wielding a scythe. And so, his eyes merely widened slightly at the sight, while his Trauma tittered on whether or not to block this one out. Ran didn't even flinch when the girl lounged to get the reaper. His attention was more or less fixed to it, with a outraged fascination that such a being existed.
First off, it moved. It had intelligent eyes. His mind assessed that much. Then again, it squeaked, like it was an animal. Again his Trauma tittered, the house never had animals and it never had to worry whether or not an animal is a threat to its host. And so he kept where he was, watching at the reaper scything at something he could not see, or was unwilling to see, as his mind wavered on the line between inescapable fear and ignorant safety.

{This is hard! XD} Her hand was hit again, before it could heal, thanks to the curse. More blood seemed to leak from it, though she dropped him, her hand had opened and he had went to the ground. He was fine, and landed on his feet before he pointed at her one more time, squeaked and then started running away. Why did he like making her chase him? How was it even fun for the grim reaper to run around so much? Then her eyes spotted him, by the gate, as if daring her to come after him.
He wasn't effected by the curse, but she was. After all, he wasn't human. He was a grim reaper! Yomi yelled his name, praying he didn't do it, he could slip past the gates, but if he did, would he come back in? Though his glare darkened, what was it that he was doing? From bush to bush she watched him run, at least she wasn't chasing him right now, waiting for the right time to do it.
The man that he had jumped on seemed to be out of it. Yomi was glad about that, she hated being around others, she hated talking to others just the same. And was pretty happy that he hadn't even noticed she was there at all. It helped her stay away from others. Her glowing green orbs stayed on the red headed reaper, before yet again she made a move to get him, only for him to dodge.

Ran's eyes followed small red drops that dripped from nowhere, blinking at it. Then the little creature sort of leapt off his shoulder, before running away. His mind had decided that it was no threat, treating it like some animate object that was a curiosity. Slowly uncurling from his seat, he slipped off the boulder he was sitting on in the corner, he more or less drifted after it, his bare feet taking soft step by soft step, gliding after towards the gate.
Somehow, he deftly avoided the girl racing after it, his mind making him avoid the space, making him simply -not want- to move into that area. Seeing the reaper by the gate, he tilted his head, his attention fixated upon it as he crouched down before the reaper, before beckoning it back to him in a silent gentle gesture. Ran had no wish to leave the house. Not because of the curse. He didn't know about it. He just didn't want to go out. He, didn't want to.

She was surprised she was staying on her feet even this much. To her surprise, the man had gotten off the rock and followed Zarame around; that even made it harder for her to stay on her feet. In all of her ideas, this may have been the dumbest idea she ever had, it was never a good idea for her to try and pounce on anything. She needed to remember that, she really did. Yomi's blue hair didn't touch her for a second, and then it did. It had been in the air, the same as her.
Maybe he shouldn't have gone after the reaper, she could have, after all he was her best friend. But maybe she shouldn't have pounced either? Her breath was out of her for a moment, before she realized that she had not landed on the ground, but instead landed on him. No matter how she looked, she was not graceful. She may have looked like she was an angel of some sort, but in no way was she graceful. She couldn't stay on her feet in one way or another.
Maybe that was why her aim was so off, and she missed the reaper. It took her a moment to figure out what she was on, though she tried to move off of him as fast as she could, only to hit him by mistake, on the cheek. She almost flushed red, but didn't. Maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't notice. That line seemed to be repeated, in case he did notice she was there. "I'm so sorry!" Some wouldn't take kindly to that, even if it was a mistake.

His mind wasn't ready. He had not been so fully bodied tackled in a long long time. Ran was absolutely, completely, off his guard for a pounce. Dropping down onto the ground at the sudden weight, his eyes went wide as he realised it was a person, his mind in shock so much that it couldn't bring up his mental defences. In fact, the moment it just did, he got smacked in the face.
Now that, was something his mind wasn't ready for either. Scrambling to erase the memory after the girl rolled off him, it wasn't ready for the second blow which stunned him. His body was working on auto. He had somehow managed to push himself up and sit up looking up at what...or who had dropped on him. The sight etched itself into his mind while it was in paralysis, for a moment dazed, not hearing what she was saying.
Then, he realised, there was a person. His mind panicked. A person, there's a person in the house. Someone. His eyes darted away and back at the spot, at the girl, starting to scramble back, not recognising her at all, fear flooding into his eyes. No way, there's no way that another person could be in here. He didn't even know her.
Ran got up and ran.
